Judges' Profile

 

Ms. Srilatha Srikanth: Srilatha’s background is that of Sociology and Psychology. She has been working with Prafulta Psychological Services for the past 14 years. She started contributing light pieces to magazines, more as a hobby. Some of her initial pieces were published more than 25 years ago in publications like The Sunday Observer and Femina. Lately, her experiences as a counselling psychologist have compelled her to take up writing seriously. She writes as a way to reach people to create awareness about mental health issues. Some of her articles have been featured in Education Times as well as the Midday Publications.

Dr. Anitha Ramesh: Anitha recently retired as Head, Dept. of English, Zamorin’s Guruvayurappan College, Calicut. She has many years of teaching and evaluating at the college level under her belt. Though retired, she continues to stay with teaching, and is a resource person in communication skills at several institutes in Kerala. Her interests being cultural studies and gender issues, she has contributed to several journals, the most recent being ‘Describing Lives, Inscribing Fault lines: Reading Select Short stories by Malayalam Writers’– DIOTIMA’s: A Journal of New Readings, 2012. She has also written textbooks related to English at the graduate level.

Ms. Claudelle Monis: Claudelle is on the faculty of various institutes, including SVKM’ s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies and St. Paul’s Institute of Communication Education.  Her area of expertise is the English language, and her ultimate aim is to make students fall in love with the English subject and language. She admits: Being a Grammar Nazi involves me being constantly on the prowl for grammatical and syntax errors, which I will correct upon sight, particularly in textbooks, novels and newspapers. She has also been a writer for the Lifestyle section of DNA.
